Hi everyone:

I've had my 1980 Volare since I was 17 - bought from my parents in who purchased it new.

In 1998, I swapped out the /6 for a 318. I warmed it up a bit with a cam, double roller, 4bbl, etc. I got the car almost all the way there - most all left was wiring.

Then, a lot of stuff happened... most car guys know what marriage, etc. does to projects.

The car sat for many years, until earlier this year I ran into a guy who said he had the precious commodity I do not have: TIME and would be willing to finish the job.

Today, I stopped by his house and heard her run for the first time in 12 years - she sounds awesome with the open headers. Big difference since the last time that car ran was with the /6 under the hood.

The donor car was a '77 Fury.

So, I'm looking forward to getting her back on the road very soon. I've browsed the pars for sale and contacted some guys parting out cars to get some of the final pieces I need.

Looking forward to being a part of this forum.

Thanks!

Ken

Welcome! My '76 has been down almost as long, about to start the work on her in next month or so.
Good luck, can't wait see how yours works out!

Welcome. Very cool. Nobody here is afraid of pictures. Great that you found someone with the time to work on it.

Hope you get going on her and back on the road. I'm just glad the engine wasn't seized up after sitting so long...

I'll have to upload some of the earlier pictures, before she sat for a few years (outside for three years, garaged for the other nine).

Ironic, I was telling Joe, the guy who's been finishing her, that when the started the project, the car looked excellent with fresh Spinnaker white paint. It was dark and she just glowed under the parking lot lights... then I got in and fired up that mechanical-valved /6 that sounded like a chain being dragged through them.

That was the night I decided I would do a V8 transplant... I wanted the car to sound as good as it looked.

Joe laughed and said: "Now it sounds a whole lot better than it looks." I think he was surprised by how strong the 318 sounds with open headers.
