Ok, stupid question but here it goes: my 77 Aspen I just got id's out as having the 3 speed auto transmision. I have seen people talking about transmission kick down linkages to the carb. Will the 3 speed auto have one of these? I am asking because I do not see one hooked to the carb on my car. I have not had it on the highway at this point because I need to replace the brakes and also the transmision gasket on the transmision pan is leaking and I am getting ready to replace it too. Plus have to fix the rotted out rear floor pans. I want to know so I can look for that and get it hooked up before it gets to the point of a highway test drive, if needed.
Thanks,
Mike

MikeAll automatic trannys had a three piece kickdown set up....you should have a pin on your throttle bracket and one on your transmission bell housing...that's where would have pieces that would pivot back and forth...there should also be a lever on the tranny...three different rods attach the carb to the first pivot point on the throttle bracket...then another from there down to the tranny bellhousing where the second pivot point is....then from there to the kickdown lever on the tranny

I think this picture might help. It is a little tough to see but the linkage is shown in the diagram
Whoever had the car before probably took it off when they had the 4bbl on it. The two barrel stuff is pretty common to all cars if you can find one in the junk yards. Might even be on some of the trucks.

KevinThe other funny thing people need to learn is that no question is a stupid question...raise you hand and ask a question it only makes you smarter
