convert 225 to a 318

I have a 1976 plymouth volare...how do I convert the 225 to a 318 without changing the k-frame?

Check out engine-swaps.com which is Schumacher Creative Services. they have the correct mounts to do it. Not cheap. Never used them but there are others on here who have used them.

KevinKevin nailed it...call them and ask Mike questions like power steering and power brakes...then find you a Magnum 318 roller tranny and small block 727 or LA904a tranny.

Honestly I have done the K-frame swap and it is easier and cheaper than any swap kit.

If you get the K frame from a doner car you can pull the whole thing out with the wheels attached. You get alot more than just a k frame. You also get the V-8 torsion bars and sway bar.

I use to get the k-frame from a 5th ave or fury from the 80's dirt cheap.

Since your motor is all ready out pulling the K is simple. You disconnect the brake hoses, steering linkage (easiest at the rag joint) and the 4 upper A_arm mounting bolts on each side then you Undo the 4 big k frame mounting bolts and its done.

I have actually installed the rebuilt motor on the k frame and then lowered the volare body down on the k frame (the way it was done in the factory) I was easier than wrestling the motor in through the top!
I used a engine craine with a short chain around the front bumper to lift the car above the motor and then lined up the transmission corss over and the 4 mounting bolts and 90% of the work was done.

Eother way you should consider the K-swap. I have done it just about every way possible and the car has always road best with the K swap from a V-8 car.
