I bought 1" wide stainless flat bar and bent them up myself using the originals as templates.
    Pretty easy to do.
Even with making the notched section that hooks into the support brackets.

It was both cooler than 100 and not raining late this evening, so I took a look at the trans in the dark with the black flashlight (I put dye in it a couple weeks ago).

The leaking seems to be from the drain plug with its cheesy rubber gasket, and from the doesn't work anyway backup switch.

Next time I feel like making a mess I'll pull the drain and put my finger in the hole while I get a proper metal crush gasket on it. I'm not sure what to do about the backup switch.

Also touched up my headlight aim that was off after the rear end rebuild.

Most of the time the gasket on the B/U switch leaks. You could try replacing that. Watch out for the cheap China made switches if you go that route. The last one I used only lasted a couple months.

I like the idea of stainless gas tank straps. I spent a lot of time sanding and polishing the old straps so I might just clear coat them and call it a day. Also did you put anything between the tank and straps. I one thinking some thin rubber may be better then metal to metal. Or does it need to be metal to metal for grounding purposes? Just a thought.

Yes, the parts store switches are crap. Mine doesn't do backup. Never did from the day I put it in with the pan off to see that it was in correctly. It does neutral/park start. I'm tempted to fab a solid plug and just run switches for the other functions. I'll probably try another switch and gasket first, but it will be (a little) money down the toilet.

I ended up using an old switch from my dad's parts stash. Still working like a champ 2 years later.

I'm not sure about f-bodies but a lot of vehicles had rubber between the tank and straps when they have a metal tank.
