I wish. Bet I lost 5lbs of sweat in the chemical suit doing the belly white. My clothes were drenched and I had to change before doing the jambs. I'll rehydrate and wait to shoot the upper body on Monday. Drank half a case of water during paint and taping but the icy feeling tells me it wasn't enough. Ugh. There's easily 13hrs just in masking here. But that's all done. Just shooting now.

Yes, and the curtain walls carefully too once they lose that 1st day dust attracting static. I'll tear it all down and hang fresh curtains before I even unmask the car. Today's tape SUCKS but I had some old stuff left for the important places. If I did a good job, it should be no more than peel, wipe, and shoot.

I always use the green 3M masking tape and it works excellent.

The 3M green has less initial tack than the yellow does, to my feel. But it has a longer bake time before the glue breaks down. I'm not baking so sticking with yellow. But then they don't have the Scotch, just 3M at our store. I will be looking for Scotch for any additional work. All the potential problem areas here are done with old Scotch brand cream paper tape that has easily 50% more tack than what they will sell me today at the paint store.

As with a lot of things, you get what you pay for. There's a reason cheap tape is cheap and a total waste of money. Same goes for masking paper. Don't skimp, just buy the good stuff right away and save yourself a bunch of headaches.

I've seen the good 3M Scotch masking tape at most auto parts stores (Carquest, Napa, etc), both the green and yellow type.

Agree, it's ALL in the prep. I looked up that green Scotch. Looks like what I'll hunt for on the next job. All they sell at my paint store is this white label 3M, and in white label yellow is better than green but nowhere near my old Scotch.
I tried cheap Anchor Hocking tape about 20yrs ago. It never went on a car. Used some around the house and it made me angry there too so I threw it out. I don't think there's a single usable product made by "Duck" either. I've occasionally bought bargain tape thinking such a minor product isn't something I need to spend "buy it for life" money on. Every time I've ended up throwing it away or giving it to the kids to tape posters on their walls or something.
