Hm. Kinda makes me sad to find out that the springs are just wrong and the hangers are there to make up the error. Thanks everyone for all the info.

    [edit]
I'm thinking that the shorter front half of the spring will firm up the ride and give a sharper grab out of the hole. Does that sound right to you guys? I'm trying real hard to see it from the vendor's point of view rather than just focusing on 'wrong parts'. Maybe they do it that way on purpose and the problem is that they didn't do a good job of communicating that. Although, 77's 2 door has the same brace that is causing me problems so I don't see how this combination of parts could fit any F. I keep circling back to just wrong.

Also, surprised to not see fuel and brake lines in 77's pics. Mine are right down at the bottom of that rolled edge brace.

My brake lines are off as I am in the process of getting the car painted and i will be putting new stuff back on. Hey, The springs may work fine but I don`t see how the hanger will fit without some work. Thankfully my springs are still good so I will be taking them apart and cleaning them up. I have new eye bushings. I wonder how hard they will be to get out? Just a thought , if your old springs are still usable , I`m thinking a good spring shop could probably freshen the old springs up with a new leaf and maybe rearching.

I'd say the old springs are pretty far gone. They're from a junkyard when I first got the car and needed to replace ASAP the torched springs it came with. I haven't heard back from tech, so I'll make some cardboard copies and see what I can get away with.

Tech doesn't know if cutting the top hole away will be ok, but they seem to think that the floorpan will somehow make it ok. ?

Since they have no interest in getting the right parts out here and I don't have an interest in taking the rest of the summer to do a 4 hour job I'm forging ahead with cutting them. Then I'll put a coat of paint on and drive it a little and if the paint is splitting off I'll have to take everything apart and weld in some boxing. If that doesn't work I guess I'll just flush $1,000 and start over from scratch with a different vendor.

Here's what I have so far. I had to take that much to allow it to rock up and forward during install.

My concern is if the spring ride height is too high and no way to adjust. I guess you will know soon enough. Good luck

That is my concern as well. But there is no way to go lower without getting a three inch hanger and a 24 inch spring. moving the spring up at all on the five inch hanger would put it in conflict with the cross brace and the fuel and brake lines.
