I am sure I could put in a groove, can you provide me a sketch to make sure we are on the same page? You can shoot me a PM, thanks
I wonder if it would be possible to make a wider trim ring with the slotted area similar to the '69 trim ring? I think this really sets off the flip-top cap.

    Stalkervette,
That looks great! Factory option even. Yes the slotted area gives a much cleaner appearance.
But I am sure when I asked you early on in a PM about using the 69 trim ring, you mentioned that there was some modifications needed to mount the trim ring?
I still purchased a 69 trim ring to see how close it was to fitting the factory option but it wasn't even close. What type of modifications did you do to make the 69 trim bezel work?

The OEM 69 trim ring will not work without body modifications, but I was thinking a flush mount trim ring (it would be flat not body indented) with the slots around the cap would look great. Just imagine a with a face on look seeing the trim ring around the cap, but again without the "depth" of the OEM 69 trim ring.

This could be an add-on for guys who already have a cap.
