    I was at the shop earlier -- they cannot figure out why the car shut down like it did. The only thing Chuck thinks it could be is the ignition switch; so out of an abundance of caution he will install a new one.

    One other thing he saw was that the fuel gauge level was jumping around, after investigating it further they saw that the float was "chattering/sticking," so that will be replace too. Should get the car back in the next day or so.

    This will be the first year (in many years) that I will not have a long list of "to-do" winter projects.

    But I'm sure I will come up with something!!!!

    Those sporadic electrical problems can be a lesson in frustration to diagnose. Run into that sort of thing at work from time to time. The biggest problem is, if you can't reproduce the symptom no matter what you do, it's all in the educated guess category. We've got one there now (a Pontiac Grand Am). Every once in a while it'll just quit and not restart. Then all of a sudden, it fires up like nothings wrong,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BEFORE the root cause has been found. Then of course, it will NOT act up again. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.............................. .......

    Hope they're best educated guess is the correct one!
