    Default 1976 Volare road runner

I am currently starting restoration on a 1976 Volare road Runner I bought new. It is silver cloud metallic with a black interior. I picked the color out of the original brouchure. I optioned it out kinda differently as it has, light package, Road Runner decour pkg, sunroof, tilt column, power driver's seat, 360 V8, Limited slip 3:21 rear axle, AM/FM, rear defog (blower), console shift, and a heater only. Well anyway I am finding parts new parts for these cars hard to find and was wondering about sheet metal replacement panels? I was working for Chrysler when these cars were new and have amassed a small casche of NOS and several parts cars. Any help in the restoration would be appreciated. My main rust problem is the panel around the taillights, behind the rear wheels and the passenger rear floorboard. THANKS! Mike

You won't find any body panels repro. Your best bet will be to find a suitable donor. We're still the Red headed stepchild in the mopar ranks. But, we are gaining some respect.

The panel around the headlights, are you talking about the fenders or the radiator saddle?

    Default 1976 Volare Road Runner

No I worked for the dealers as a mechanic/shop foreman. Opened my own place in 1978, still a used car dealer today. Mainly do restoration work, on my own stuff. I also still have the 77 Aspen Super Pack T top that I bought new. Has almost all the options available, ordered it from the zone rep. in 76. I tried my rear off to get a black Super Pack Road Runner but they were only available in orange. I still wonder why they couldn't have made an exception at that time I was in kinda tight with the zone reps! When you ordered an Aspen with T tops you automatically got radial tires, so the dealer ordered a 4-door sedan with the E 70/14 RWL bias tires to swap when the cars came in. Didn't like the whitewalls. I worked from 76 to 79 for the dealers till they all stared going belly up around here (18% interest) so I do know a little about these cars. I still remember the BIG deal when the LeBaron and Diplomat came out. Still have the decals they sent out on my tool box. So if I can be of some help to you all please ask. Yes I do have some hearses and ambulances, none newer than a 61 M&M Flower car. Mike in Owensville, Mo.
