I started my weekend blasting large holes into the rusted hinge mount area of the original hood. I am done welding on this thing so I grabbed another one and blasted it instead. Primed and smoothed the factory runs that I didn't fully remove. But I won't tolerate rust pitting so I glazed those areas and need to smooth yet. Bonus of substituting another hood is that this car had very tight hood to fender gaps when lined up and this hood is 1/4" narrower. So that problem dealt with itself! This old pile just may become a car again yet!

    Looking good!

You're right on the tolerances. Now you mentioned it, my dad's '62 Fury body panel fit is sloppy and he's done some work over the years to make things fit closer. He said the gaps weren't close to even when he picked the car up at the dealer in May 1962.

The job is a Beach! Lol!
But I really like blasting on a huge tarp. Making walls with it reduces the mess area and then I can just pull on it and all the sand goes to a central area for clean up. I'd rather fold a tarp than deal with a giant mess any day!

Nothing to see here. Move along people...

    Lol!

Driver side is ready for paint but not passenger side yet. Might make some more progress this weekend.

Cool! I have been having some health issues but I hope most is behind me now. Maybe I can restart my project soon.

That's good to hear! I think about you often. Like every time somebody comments on my progress like where do I find the time. I think of how you're out there doing what you can, when you're able. It humbles me to know that pain and that I've no excuses for my slow progress with perfect health today. How can I not have the time to have this in paint yet? Guess there's just so many other things to also get done.
