    starting problem

i need suggestions. i had a coolest leak & was told it was the freezout plug in back of engine so we starting removing everything. we had to pull dist. to get to top bolts. when we did this we noticed coolest coming from back of intake & running down into bell housing. . that was fixed. long story short, the engine got turned while bolting all lower parts back up so our timing was off. we brought #1 cyl to tdc & replaced dist. with rotor on # 1 plug wire. motor would start & run a few seconds then die & will not restart. we have cleaned plugs, repositioned,& reset everything several times getting the same results. also the compression is very good on all cyls. i need help. i will be away from computer for a week .please e/m me @ sk66@falcon1.net. thanks

Maybe you have it 180 degrees out.

Maybe it's a fuel problem. If you have a squirt bottle of gas try squirting some in the carb and see if it stays running.

Good fire at each plug? Must be fuel then. Is it firing at all, or just cranking without any firing?

edit: Nevermind, you said adding fuel manually didn't help. Are you going the right way around the distributor with the firing order? I think it would fire back out through the carb if you got that backwards.
