That did seem like a good price for an new NOS piece. I was going to install new belts in the Lightning then freaked out at the price...

Seat belt was waiting by the front door when I got home from work last evening. It is exactly as advertised.

Put the new seat belt in this afternoon. Looks much nicer. Only downside is the tongue cover doesn't match what I had and the ones I have don't fit. Probably because the NOS belt is for a '79 and the belts I have in the car are from a '76 or '77 Volare. Same car most of the interior came from. So now the two sides are different but I'll get over it.

You can see the difference in the webbing, even in my crummy before and after photo's. Added bonus, this one retracts nicer than the old one too.

Since the "off season" seems to have started already, WAY too early , time to start thinking of the off season projects. Other than the usual undercarriage and engine compartment cleaning and stuff, I really hope to get back to the still unfinished luggage compartment project and get somewhere with it this year.

Still up in the air about going to EFI. One part of me wants to do it, the other part says it starts, runs and drives just fine with the carb and to leave well enough alone. I'd love to get the rear seat reupholstered. It's in really good shape with only one seam starting to come apart but after getting the front seats redone a couple years ago, it became obvious the rear seat is 40 years old. The wallet will make the decision to do EFI, the seat, both or neither. HIGHLY doubtful on the both part though, lol.

The car show and cruise season is about over so I was thinking about replacing my head gaskets and checking the cylinder heads over for any needed service. I want to check the drive shaft for balance, there seems to be some vibration. I also want to change the wheels. I am sure there is more to do.

Here's where I'm at with the long overdue project of finishing the luggage compartment. Now that the learning curve is more or less over, the rest should go much better (and quicker). Note to self, unless the panel is flat, don't try to glue it all in one shot. You know how spray contact adhesive is, you get pretty much one shot to get it positioned before it touches. Even with that little snafu, it's turning out not too bad.

Photo's with the panel board pieces made and then carpeted and installed for now. I need to get some Velcro for attachment yet. All the screws are for the sheet metal angle pieces I made to hold the corner together. Another note to self, measure 5 times, cut once so you don't have to patch in a piece where it was cut too short.

Also need to figure out what to do with the edge of the floor carpet where it overlaps the side, so it isn't all wavy like it is now. Maybe some sort of edging or a strip of Velcro to hold it down. I'll decide that later on.

Got the drivers side trunk panels made and in. This side went way better than the other side, which was the "figure out how to do it" side.

After some grub, going back out to attempt to make a carpet piece to cover what's still silver. With the fuel filler tube and the required bump in the inner fender well, it's got to be done separate with carpet glued on. Problem is, ran out of spray adhesive (isn't it always the way???) and was going to go over to Hobby Lobby or Michael's to pick some up until,,,,,,,,,,,I walked out of the garage and could barely see the house 25 feet away. I'm not saying the fog is thick but the fog is thick.DANG!
    The adhesive can wait.
