    New guy

Hi, new to the forum. A 1978 Plymouth Volare was the first new car my father ever bought. We loved it, put a lot of miles on it in the five years we had it. A lot of great memories involved that car. After he passed, I started looking for one. After searching for two years all over the country (not many 78 Volare Sedans out there as I found out) I ended up finding one about 25 miles away. Considering it stayed in Mass. the whole time, the rust isnít too bad. Itís a 318 still with ELB, torqueflite, bench seats and no AC. It came with all original paperwork, two Chrysler shop manuals, a spare hubcap in its Mopar wrapper and a car cover. Iíve changed the oil and filter, voltage regulator, fuel filter, one fender marker light and working on the headlight switch as I have no instrument lights at night, the light can go on if you turn the switch, so bulbs are good, just doesnít light up otherwise. My next project is to work on what rust there is. With all this being said, iím new to working on cars. Iíve read the manuals cover to cover several times and am taking classes. Iíll probably be asking a lot of questions, and most likely they will be stupid, so I thank you all in advance for your patience.

There are many very knowledgeable members on this forum willing to help out. Just because you don`t know the answer to something doesn`t mean that the question is stupid. I`m a heavy duty mechanic by trade and I`ve learned a huge amount I didn`t know about these cars from this forum.

Nice car. I have a four door as well.

Mine runs solid, but it looks like a hairball stuck to a cow's hoof standing in the slaughter lot.

I've gotten a lot of help from the gang here and we'll do what we can to help out.
