RT, is the roll over valve what you are calling the breather? Or is 80 different? I`m betting the metal line that goes to the charcoal canister is clogged or rusted inside and causing the blockage,

Early non-California tanks simply had an 1/8" hose running from the top vent across the axle tunnel to tuck behind a bracket between the shock rail and the pass side unibody rail. Eventually some insect gets lodged in there and it doesn't breathe. I duno but would imagine the later tanks with a rollover valve should have the valve available seperately. Especially since they're commercially available.

I never did find a new valve for my car (one specifically for an Aspen) and ended up using one for a mid '90's Jeep. the diameter is the same but the thickness of the "groove" is different. Made a plastic spacer (like a big washer) to take up the difference and plugged the extra port with a rubber plug. Seems to work fine.
