As communicable as it is, I would love to hear the REAL infection number they anticipate. Today for the first time I heard them say that it is mutating differently in different regions. That says that there are countless variations (mutation) that can or will occur. They are playing Little Dutch Boy putting his finger in the damn to stop leaks. I think of it as the common cold and flu, it comes each year and they cannot eradicate it.

Any virus is going to find its way through a population. Nature happens.

The latest data from this county is, out of all the people tested so far, there have been 539 positives and,,,,,,,,,,,,wait for it,,,,,,,,,,46,826 negatives and now, 5 deaths out of 150,000 people total. Out of the 539 positive cases, roughly 400 and change have recovered already. Not meaning to downplay the virus but I would hardly call it a "pandemic". Now our Governor (that nobody voted for that I've ever heard) declared masks must be worn in all public places. What a public place is, is a mystery. A public building (courthouse, government building, library, etc) fine, if that's what they want. Is a business a public place though? Not really, it's a private business, not public. At any rate, there is a growing revolt. Not about wearing a mask but the fact that the government ordered masks be worn. Basically the general feeling is, the Governor can gop f*** himself. Last I checked this is a constitutional republic, not a socialist republic, not a communist nation and not a dictatorship. There is a HUGE difference between constitutional republic and the others. They could RECOMMEND you wear a mask, but to ORDER it? Not so much. When they call a park, OUTDOORS, a public place and masks must be worn, WTF? It's outdoors and if you practice so called "social distancing" ( I cannot stand that term) why would you wear a mask? To be honest, I've tuned out anything to do with news because I am so sick of hearing about Covid-19, Covid-19, Covid-19, over and over, and over and over. Also, if I hear one more ad on radio or TV that says "these trying times', "these uncertain times", "these troubling times", etc............I will simply scream and sink into the earth, never to be seen again.

Thank you for your patience while I ranted and vented. I'm done now and feel so much better!

Cold or Flu can put a hurting on me but something like the Covid may put out of commission permanently. I was thankful when I lived thru having my chest opened up once and some stuff replaced. I just don`t want to be one of the unlucky ones. It is much easier to take it all lightly. It is harder to play it safe. As far as all the opinions. You may be watching way too much TV.

I'm sick of the media coverage, both fake and real

More and more I find myself simply listening to the radio or records. Can you just imagine how crazy and nasty things are going to be in September and October? I think I'll mess around in the garage and workshop until Thanksgiving

    Man I here ya!

I think I'll just take October off from all non-car related media while everybody who's already been made half crazy loses the rest of their minds over the election.

Is there such a thing as real, honest media coverage,,,,,,,,,,,,of anything???? In 90% of cases, that would be a great big NO. I remember once being at a meeting and seeing reporters from the local TV stations. Later you watch their report on the news and wonder if they were at the same meeting you were. They got it completely wrong and reported things that never happened and things said that were never said. WTF? At work we listen to SiriusXM radio in the shop so, no news or commercials. This site and FMJ are the total of my "social media". No FB, no Twitter, no any f the others. I used to be on FB but found it was a cesspool so, deleted my account and it was one of the best things I've ever done. With all due respect to 77rr2x4, and I understand where you are coming from, I simply can't stand to hear about it day and night, over and over anymore. I had the H1N1 flu a few years ago and came within a couple hours of being 6 feet under yet, you hardly ever heard a word about it so, why is it so different now? I don't ever want to be that sick ever again but at the same time, can't live in fear. You take a chance driving to work, or crossing the street to get the mail, or stepping in the shower in the morning. I hope everyone gets where I'm coming from and understand what I mean. Hard to express things in text where you don't hear voice tone and see facial expressions.

The members here appear to be a nice group of guys. No bickering and everyone has a opinion and that is good but when people let it get the best of them and become angry that`s when they need to step back and think if it is worth getting so worked up about. I don`t get concerned with media because they all have a agenda they want to push it seems. I believe I have enough sense to not get swayed one way or another and I can choose what makes sense or not. As far as the Covid my indicator is when hospital beds are full in some areas and the funeral homes are busy are ever that becomes a clear indicator to me. I don`t fear sickness but I also don`t would to do stupid things that I know wouldn`t help with my situation. It is a matter of survival.

Disclaimer: My last couple rants and venting were not intended to mean I don't wear a mask when needed. When I go to the store, etc, I do wear one. Don't like it but, it is what it is, fogged glasses and all. I'm always in a fog anyways so, it's no big deal, LOL.

Now for a small rant and then a couple raves (for once). Rant: It just isn't right to need a jacket and have the furnace on in the 1st week of August, it just isn't.

Raves: The cold crap will be a memory by the weekend when it's back to the 80's once again. In 3 days I have a week off from work(!) First time off, except for holidays, since last July. I NEED some time off! Now, if I could use that time to relax, it'd be great but,,,,,,,,,,,,,I end up taking time off from work so i can stay home and get some work done. Oh well

Other rave: For the 2nd day in a row, I hit traffic JUST right when leaving work and made it through downtown Mosinee with no delay, the one light controlled intersection i go through was green, hardly any traffic at all. Most days it's the ol' stop and go, stop and creep routine. Wonder if I can make it 3 in a row?

A P.S. rave: Supposed to be dry and sunny tomorrow and a little warmer so I believe it's going to be another "take your Aspen to work day" It's got a good heater so, all set. Last Friday was a hot rod at work day also.
