    squirrels..............................

Squirrels destroyed the battery insulation on my truck battery while I was on vacation. They did the same to my wifes car a month or so ago. I am hoping they didn`t chew anything important. They chewed the wires off my daughters O2 sensor on her Avenger a year ago. Is there any repellent or smell they don`t like?

There are any number of repellents on the market that say they keep rodents away but whether any of them actually work, I couldn't say. I've read everything from mothballs (gag) to putting 1/2" to 1" sticks of wood under the car so they will chew on them instead of climbing under the hood to find something to chew on. I guess they do it to keep their teeth from growing too long and gnaw on whatever they can find that does the job.

I just replaced the battery insulation cover on my Mustang. It appeared to have had either a mouse or squirrel eat one side away (it was like that when I bought the car). Only replaced it because it bugged me everytime I opened the hood, lol. What the heck, it was a whole $21 from the Ford dealer and now all is right with the world.

I usually use lead to repel them, but if you have neighbors that may not work for you.

Yeah, us folks in the 'burbs may have a visit from a man or woman in blue and possibly get to wear an orange jump suit while enjoying our free lodging at a beautiful downtown county run hotel, if we used lead to repel rodents.

The one time I lived in a town the other guys taught me to have a pellet gun and a single well located hole in the back window screen. The squirrels didn't wander far into that neighborhood from the place they got nuts and peanut butter and stuff.

I use fabric softener sheets to keep rodents away. They seem to work on the squirrels. Yes lead works wonderfully. 22cal break barrel pellet works nice and relatively cheap. I've been raging war on them for the last 10 years. Hundreds of them. Seriously.

Softener sheets don't seem to work for mice though. I've found mouse nests under the hoods of cars made partially of,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shredded dryer sheets.

Really? I was sort of thinking they were working for the mice also. Seem to be keeping everything at bay since I began using them. I had to take the whole dash out once. I really don't want to have to do that ever again.
I use about a dozen sheets every fall. I put the spent ones in the trunk. I shove them every where.

I forgot to mention that this crew in one form or another seems to make it back every year to help with extermination. And yes, the roadrunner is just behind them ratty doors.
