    Magnum 500 Center Caps On

Finally got my Magnum 500 Center caps on - Thank you again Brian! I think they look better than the Mopar centers. These wheels are 14 x 6 originally from a '68 Road Runner. Here's the background story - I had been wanting a set of 15" Magnum 500's for my car to replace the Mopar Rallyes, but I was concerned about overall gearing - my 7 1/4 had 3.23's and the 8 1/4 I had to replace it has 2.94's. This set of 14's came up , so I was able to leave the 2.94's in the new differential, just to try it out. I did lose a little jump off the line, but it seems ok for now. A new speedo pinion from Brewer's and ready for cruisin'!

Thanks - I think they do, too. Not bad for 50 year old wheels. I also applied red paint to the brake drums like the factory did. It's kind of a theme I'm following for my car - as long as Chrysler did it, it's Ok for me.

I was tempted to paint the rear drums red on our car but I wasn`t sure if chrysler did it on our year cars. I did it on my 73 charger I had. But they still had red paint on the drums from the factory.

I have one of those. It came tucked in a box of who knows what random stuff somewhere along the line.

I assume they're aftermarket, who made them?

And by all means lets see the CAR with them on it!!!

IIRC, I got them off a guy on ebay. Not sure if they are OEM or not. I think they may be for a Ford.

Red brake drums was done by the early 70's, I think. Probably whenever they made front discs standard. I don't let that stop me if I like the look. I also have an orange air cleaner from a '74 360. I happen to think it looks really good with the Mopar blue and Light Cashmere. Bullseye caps would be correct for Mopar Magnum 500's, but, again I liked the looks of the different center cap. I think they were used mostly on Fords, but the 3 bar spinner caps came with that decal, too. Click image for larger version.

Don`t get me wrong I like it when people put their own touch to their car. For me I was trying to keep it as close to original as possible and painted them cast iron color.

Looks Great to me! I did our drums in Hemi Orange engine paint to match the car more closely than red.
