Very sad day for all who ever met him. And the whole F-body community. He'll be missed.

I've been following this on For FMJ Body Only and from what I can gather, there was an accident at a new shop he was building. More details are coming.

From what I've read Phil's passing was due to a freak accident. Crusher truck coming in for another round flung debris from a tire. He probably never saw it coming and never regained consciousness. They did CPR for an hour but he was gone.
His life celebration will be Labor Day weekend. We're trying to put a group together from our area to go camp at Boot Hill and pay our mutual respects to our legendary friend.

A large number of people went to Iowa Falls this weekend to send our friend Phil off in style. Got most of the guys from the F-body boards together for a pic.

Wow, what a motley looking bunch in that picture

Cool that the casket is that color and is that a 43 on the lid? Taking the final ride in the back of the Lil' Red is so much better than a hearse somehow. Not sure how to describe what I mean other than it's less somber and more celebration of the life he lived.

Yep. It truly was a celebration of his life and the friendship he'd made with everyone. The Kit Car program stickers and the 43 on the casket were from his collection and it rode on a checkered flag runner rug in the bed of Phil's last Adventurer. Joe Gilardi laid five lugs nut on the casket at the end of the ceremony. Fitting and touching.
