R/H Passenger Remote Mirror mount points?

I purchased a NOS right hand mirror quite a few years ago for one of my two '76 cars (Aspen Woody Wagon, Volare 4DR). Both are survivors - great paint and all. So I've frankly been afraid to drill holes and mess up my stock situation. But I've taken to driving the woody quite a bit this year, and I think I'm going to add the mirror. Couple questions on the mounting.

    1) The driver's side door has a "bump" built up to mount the mirror. Were there custom made RH doors with bumps? Or does the mirror just mount flush to the flat sheet metal?

    2) Where does the interior remote mount in the dash? I used to have a picture from a brochure or something that showed it. I believe it was between the ash tray and the glove box, but beyond that I haven't a clue. Anyone have a pic or measurements they could share with me?

    THANKS - Mark

That is a good question. My car is at a body shop right now so I can`t check whether the passenger side has the raised area or not. The mirror hole is located in the lower dash panel. I will see if I can locate the panel and measure it. The mirror should have come with a round plastic escutcheon piece that finishes the panel once you drill the hole. Otherwise it will look unfinished.

Passenger side has no bump. My car has the original doors and came with dual remote mirrors from the factory.

Yep. No bump on pass side door. Just measure and run the step drill into it. Cable goes into the lower driver side dash beside the ash tray. If you remove the lower panel you'll see the mount. Lower panel also has a circle on the back side for cutting out the remote area. But then you need a conical grommet to finish it down in to that mirror lever. Better to just buy one that's molded for and has a grommet in the first place. I had a spare grommet but haven't seen it in ages. I know I have a whole box full of lower dash panels with good color selection. Could check to see if I have your color for pass remote mirror if you want to DM me. Just click on my name for the drop down menu to do that if so.

Matt if you don`t have a grommet I may have a black NOS one. Or like mentioned, get the panel with the hole and grommet already in it.

I've got two shades of tan, neither of them Caramel. One cream tan, the other 80's M gold. Two spare grommets, both dk. blue. So nothing exactly correct.

Pic of the mirror bezel location in the knee panel. The joy stick/cables don't actually attach to the panel.

Behind the knee panel there is a mounting hole for the mirror joy stick in the dash carrier. You can also use that to determine exactly where to cut the hole for the bezel.
