Nov 20, 2020. Was 64 degrees by 2 o clock under sunny skies. The strong breeze kept up all day but it all slowed down as the cloud cover came around dark and held the heat in over night. Still pretty decent weather here.

We had an inch or so of snow, followed by warm enough to melt it all, then Wednesday was in the mid 50's, Thursday only 40's and yesterday (and today) just plain cold and below freezing. Only difference is, yesterday there was a 20-30 mph north wind. Today, 1-2 mph and sunshine (so far).

Well,,,,,,,,,,,,heard the upcoming forecast and kind of wish I hadn't. Put it this way, I got the snow blower and snow shovels out of the shed and moved them to the (attached) garage. Tuesday they said 3-6" of snow during the day. That means it'll be a normal drive to work, white knuckle drive home in the dark and snow and that's always so much "fun".

I'm hoping I jinxed it by getting the snow removal equipment ready! lol Good news is, choke, throttle, couple pumps of the primer bulb, hit the start button and the snow blower fired right up, no problems.

Awesome drive in today. 35 mi turned into an hour and a half. Never quite hit 45 mph at any time. Mostly more like 22-25 the closer I got to the cities. Lost track of the number in ditches in the heavier traffic too. Over 25 plus 3 semi's and one of those on it's side. Wife made it 10 mi fm the house gave up on the unplowed county line road and turned back. Even that took her nearly an hour in that direction.

Our first snow of the year turned out exactly like the warning was. Except directed right at our county instead of the snow belt. Started changing from rain to snow as soon as I got home yesterday and they said to expect 6" overnight, but I was brushing 10 plus off the cars at home. All on a nice base of ICE of course... Supposed to get 4-6" more today and still more overnight again. yay...

We had a winter storm warning last night and this morning. They were calling for 1/2" of snow.

I remember that. Snow was so deep I couldn't even get the plow out for days. Snow drifts were over the top of the F150 roof.

Wasn't that the year we had the ice quakes and those snow rollerballs? That was freaky, need to see if I still have the pictures.

All we've got here is COLD. High was 23 yesterday, woke up this morning to 12. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

It's interesting what's consider a winter storm warning in different parts of the country. Up here, a possible 1/2" might not even be reported, lol. Even 6" is called "moderate snow". Nothing gets shut down (like schools) until a foot or more, unless there's ice and then it snows on top of it. I understand even 1/2" is a lot if you're not used to it, don't have winter tires and/or AWD, etc.

Wow I'd actually forgotten how weird that was. Just still salty about losing Christmas Eve holiday pay because of "an act of God", which contractually allowed them to refuse pay despite the Sheriff having closed the roads.

Sorry Rattle - that flat sucks.

I have a feeling with the new year many companies will "clean house" using covid as an excuse. Many of the people I know accepted packages for early retirement recently. When my company offered it there was an unspoken understanding that the next swing will hit you square between the eyes. I'm certain if I were not forced out on disability I would have been offered a package - I have plenty of points (age + years worked).

I'm thankful my company is just as busy, or busier, than before the Covid over reaction (JMO)

Side note: I got "contact traced" and was advised to get tested so,,,,,,,,I went in late yesterday afternoon. Results should be known later this afternoon, and hoping for negative of course. I have no reason to think I have it but am home today just in case. That's why I'm posting in the middle of the day on a weekday.

At least the weather is decent, for December that is. Sunny, 41 degrees and not much wind. Not TOO bad for the next 7 days either(!) Another 30 or 40 degrees added on would be nice but for this time of year the chances of that happening are none and none, lol.
