I used a press to get my bushings out. I don't remember having trouble with it, but I have gotten them out by hand drilling all the rubber until I can get in there with a hacksaw and carefully cut the old bushing shell without getting into the control arm.

The upper ball joints was another story. I think I spent about 3 weeks on those. Seriously.

The first secret is to get that special four sided socket. Having it was worth every bit of the $80 it cost to get it here so I could use it two times for the rest of my life.

The second secret is to get some pure bee's wax. Gently heat the part and apply the wax like you would sweat a copper pipe fitting. You want to get the wax hot enough to flow real easy, but not so hot it chars. Do that a couple times to let it work down through the threads.

Then apply special socket with air impact and it will come apart pretty easy. Too bad I didn't know that before I spent weeks trying to get it apart.

I have a deal of Firm Feel parts on mine, and I'm waiting for them to ship the stuff to rebuild my rear suspension. They are really good.

When using poly bushings you don't press the old ones out. You drill the rubber til you can remove it from the original outer sleeves. Lube the poly and slip into them.
